Tool guide
See which skills deserve attention for a target career profile
Skill gaps are easier to work on when they are specific. Career Skills Gap Analyzer compares the skills you select with a maintained HireLanz career profile and separates the result into areas such as required and important skills. The purpose is not to judge whether you are employable. It is to turn a broad goal like “I want to become a data analyst” into a more concrete list of capabilities you can review, practice and demonstrate.
Choose a career profile and mark the skills you already have. The analyzer compares those selections with the profile’s maintained skill groups. A coverage figure can provide a quick orientation, but the individual matched and missing items are more useful than the percentage alone. A missing skill may be a learning priority, while a matched skill may need stronger evidence through projects, work examples or measurable outcomes.
Use the output to plan evidence
Once you identify a gap, decide what proof would make the skill credible. For technical skills, that might be a project, code sample or production responsibility. For communication or stakeholder skills, it might be a documented outcome from work. This keeps the tool connected to the real job-search process instead of treating a checklist as the goal.
How the profiles are maintained
The career profiles are WordPress-managed reference data. They contain skill groups selected for the HireLanz toolkit, not a universal definition of every profession. Different employers can prioritize different technologies, tools and behaviors. The profile should therefore be treated as a structured starting point that you can supplement with the requirements in an actual job description.
Combine it with job research
Run the analyzer after reading several relevant job descriptions. Job Description Analyzer can surface recurring requirements from an individual posting, while CV Keyword Matcher can help you check whether those terms are represented in your CV. Career Path Planner can then help you think about the next stage rather than only the immediate gap.
Limitations
The result is not a hiring assessment, certification or prediction. Skill names can hide differences in depth, and a selected skill does not prove proficiency. The maintained profiles are also finite and can become outdated as tools and role expectations change. Use the output as a planning framework, then verify current requirements against real job postings and credible professional sources.
Quick review before choosing a learning priority
Pick a small number of gaps that matter to the roles you actually want. Then look for a way to demonstrate each one. A completed project, measurable work result or credible portfolio example is more useful than collecting a long list of unchecked skill names.
How it works
Choose a career profile and select skills you already have.
Methodology at a glance
Coverage compares the skills entered by the user with the required and important skills in the selected WordPress-managed career profile. It is not a hiring assessment.
How the model is calculated
The analyzer compares user-selected skills with the skill arrays stored in a WordPress-managed career profile. Required and important skills are treated as separate groups so the result can distinguish core areas from additional development areas. Matching is normalized for case and spacing, then de-duplicated. Coverage is calculated from the maintained profile rather than from a labor-market-wide benchmark. A skill appearing as “matched” only means that the user selected it; the tool does not test proficiency. Missing skills are therefore prompts for research and practice, not proof of an actual deficiency. The profile can be updated by the site administrator as role expectations change, which keeps the methodology maintainable without introducing an external skills API.
Review inputs and assumptions before using a result for a real decision.
The profile is a planning reference. It does not certify proficiency or determine whether an employer will consider you qualified.
