This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies HireLanz uses, who sets them, what they are for, and how you can control them. It works alongside the Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled more generally.
What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website, or a service used by the website, stores on your device when you visit. They can keep the site working, remember choices you make and give site owners information about how the site is used. Cookies cannot read other files on your device.
Similar technologies do the same kinds of jobs. Local storage keeps small pieces of data inside your browser. Pixels and scripts can record that a page or an ad was loaded. In this policy, “cookies” includes these.
Do the tools use cookies?
The calculations in the tools run in your browser, and what you enter is not sent to us or stored in cookies. Some tools may remember your own entries or choices on your device, for example the boxes you ticked on the Visa Document Checklist, using your browser’s local storage. That data stays on your device and is not used for advertising or analytics. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.
The pages that contain tools also load the same analytics and advertising cookies as the rest of the site, described below.

Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to see which pages and tools are used and to find problems. It records that a tool page was opened or a result was calculated, not what you entered. [CONFIRM 8] Cookies you may see include names beginning _ga. Their names and lifetimes are set by Google and can change. Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months.
Advertising cookies
HireLanz shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites, to measure ads, and to prevent invalid activity. Cookies you may see include __gads and __gpi, and others set on Google domains. Their names and lifetimes are set by Google and can change. Ads may be personalised or non-personalised depending on your location, your settings and your consent. We do not send what you enter in tools to Google or any advertiser.

First-party and third-party cookies
First-party cookies are set by HireLanz. Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose services run on our pages, mainly Google. We do not control third-party cookies, and they are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that set them.
Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the site asks for your consent before it sets analytics or advertising cookies. When you first arrive you can accept, reject or choose which categories to allow. Essential cookies are used without consent because the site needs them to work. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link or icon on the page, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

If you block or delete cookies, some parts of HireLanz may not work as smoothly, and a tool may not remember your entries next time. Blocking advertising cookies does not remove ads. It usually means the ads are less relevant to you.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, for example if we add a new tool that stores data or a new service. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
