Job Offer Comparison
Compare two employment offers across compensation, costs and paid leave without declaring a winner.
Tool guide
Compare the parts of an offer instead of chasing one headline number
A job offer is more than base salary. Bonuses, allowances, benefits, estimated deductions, living costs and paid leave can all change what an offer means in practice. Job Offer Comparison gives you a structured place to put those numbers side by side. It does not label either offer a winner. Instead, it exposes the factual differences so you can apply your own priorities, whether those priorities are cash flow, leave, relocation, stability or total compensation.
Enter the two offers using the currency that applies to each one. Add annual salary, expected bonus, allowances and other annual benefits where relevant. You can also enter your own estimated annual taxes or deductions and living costs. Those estimates are deliberately user-controlled because the theme does not pretend to know your personal tax position or household budget. The resulting comparison is therefore transparent about what is supplied and what is assumed.
Read the comparison in layers
Start with total compensation to understand the value represented by the package before expenses. Then look at estimated remaining income, which subtracts the annual deductions and living costs you entered. Paid leave is displayed separately because leave is not simply another cash amount. If the offers use different currencies, the tool avoids inventing a cross-currency comparison without a maintained conversion basis. That is safer than producing a precise-looking number from an unsupported assumption.
When this tool is most useful
Use it after you receive two written offers, when comparing a promotion with an external move, or when an international role combines salary with relocation and housing support. It can also help prepare a compensation conversation because you can see which components create the largest factual gap. For a more detailed international comparison, combine it with Salary Comparison and Relocation Budget Calculator.
What the calculation does
Total compensation is the sum of salary, bonus, allowances and other annual benefits. Estimated remaining income subtracts the tax/deduction estimate and annual living-cost estimate you enter. Paid leave is kept separate rather than converted into an arbitrary monetary value. The tool does not score culture, career growth, employer quality or personal preference.
Limitations
Benefits may have different tax treatment, bonuses may not be guaranteed, and living costs can vary by person and location. Your entries are assumptions, not verified employer or government figures. The comparison should therefore be treated as a structured worksheet for decision-making, not financial advice or a recommendation. Keep the original offer letters available and verify important compensation terms before accepting an offer.
How it works
Enter the components of each offer. The calculator totals compensation and subtracts estimated taxes and living costs.
Methodology at a glance
Total compensation is salary + bonus + allowances + other annual benefits. Estimated remaining income is total compensation minus the user-entered annual tax/deduction estimate and annual living-cost estimate. Paid leave is shown separately.
How the model is calculated
Each offer is calculated independently before the comparison is displayed. Base salary, bonus, allowances and other annual benefits form the stated compensation total. The user can then enter estimated annual deductions and living costs; those are subtracted to produce an estimated remaining-income figure. Paid leave is preserved as a separate factual field rather than assigning an arbitrary cash value to time off. When currencies differ, the engine avoids unsupported conversion unless a valid maintained rate is available. No preference score is calculated, because the value of a benefit depends on the user. The methodology therefore exposes components and differences without generating a winner. The result should be reproducible from the values shown in the form.
Review inputs and assumptions before using a result for a real decision.
The comparison is based on your entries and estimates. It does not determine which offer is better and does not provide tax, financial or employment advice.
